Graduate Could the Universe Have Regions of Expansion and Collapse?
I'll save this and read it after I start my astrophysics classes, so it make more sense to me haha -

Graduate Could the Universe Have Regions of Expansion and Collapse?
sort of on topic, what are your thoughts on the possibility of a cyclic model for the universe? for example, the recent Baum–Frampton model -

Graduate Could the Universe Have Regions of Expansion and Collapse?
ahh okay thank you. I understood that the cosmological principle was only applicable on large scales, and that helps clarify it -

Graduate Could the Universe Have Regions of Expansion and Collapse?
what is the difference between these two? wiki has them both listed as the standard model of big bang cosmology :/ -

Graduate Could the Universe Have Regions of Expansion and Collapse?
I understand that (from what we can tell) the universe is expanding at an accelerating rate. I'm just curious if it's possible that the universe is expanding in some areas, and receding in others. despite this going against the cosmological principle, is it possible that beyond our bubble of... -

Graduate Entropy vs Universal Expansion
thank you so much. I'm glad I'm not crazy. also, I'm sorry I can't exactly quote my professor on what he said about entropy and a heating universe, but I did paraphrase the best I could. what I told you is what I understood him to say, and what others understood as well.- coolcalx

Graduate Entropy vs Universal Expansion
..the universe is defined as all space, time, matter, and energy. the "totality of reality." there is nothing beyond the universe. the existence of "parallel universes" would exist within dimensions of the universe we are familiar with. but I'm still not getting an answer to my question :/- coolcalx

Graduate Entropy vs Universal Expansion
that makes sense, but is the universe heating up due to entropy, as my professor states, or is it cooling down do to expansion, as the Big Bang theory states?- coolcalx

Graduate Entropy vs Universal Expansion
hello, I am a high school student from Alabama, and I'm in a college level physics class. We have just finished fluids and thermodynamics, but my physics professor claimed something that has me a little irked. according to my physics professor and the laws of thermodynamics, nothing can...- coolcalx

Calculating Work on a Sliding Block: Mass, Speed, and Kinematics
Homework Statement A block of mass 3 kg, which has an initial speed of 6 m/s at time t = 0, slides on a horizontal surface. Find the magnitude of the work that must be done on the block to bring it to rest. Answer in units of J. Homework Equations F=MA W=FD Kinematics Vf=Vi=AT...- coolcalx
