News Is Anyone Truly in Control Amidst the Ukrainian Crisis?
I wonder what this whole thread about. The war in Ukraine is an example of simulacrum. Nobody actually knows what happens. People make conclusions from rumours and fragments of information. Mass media obviously aren't independent. One will have different point of view whether he or she lives in...- Cyril141795

What is the best book to start learning Finite Element Analysis?
"Fat" books are better for beginner than "anorexic" ones because their authors don't try to cover everything they want to say on several pages. The whole first volume of Zienkiewicz dedicated to the basics of FEM. He explained the basics in detail. One can pass topics that he or she thinks too...- Cyril141795

What is the best book to start learning Finite Element Analysis?
Take a look at "The Finite Element Method: Its Basis and Fundamentals" by Zienkiewicz. He made great contribution to FEM so he knew things he was talking about inside and out. This is the first volume of three. I've used the first and the third volumes to understand one method...- Cyril141795

Relevance of electrostatic precipitation technology
Hello. Is electrostatic precipitation technology relevant nowadays? Is it worth making candidate dissertation on it? I am going to investigate back-corona discharge in ESP and operation of ESP under height inlet dust loadings by means of mathematical modelling (Comsol, my own programs if it's...- Cyril141795

People not interested in science?
Nobody will argue against it. According to your words, I change my statement to "... he can't hate math unless he hasn't gone through a math degree", because if one doesn't hate math, he doesn't necessary like it so much to study it for four years and deal with it 8 hours a day for ten...- Cyril141795

People not interested in science?
I think that people hate math and science because they don't understand them and it's not easy to understand math and science. If one understands (doesn't simply know formulation) at least one significant theorem in math he can't hate math. The work which one has to do on the way to the truth...- Cyril141795

High Voltage or High Amperage ?
Yes it's possible. Examples of high voltage and low current is mentioned above. Example of low voltage but high current is impulse current generators. a) high voltage and low current Electrical equipment (e.g. transformers) are subjected to overvoltages that are caused by switchings in...- Cyril141795

Who's more well rounded, a physics major or a math major.
The engineers are the most well-rounded, because they study many other disciplines like management, economics along with mathematics, physics and topics in math and physics are more applied. But, of course, they don't know physics like physicists. For example, they aren't taught special...- Cyril141795

Can Anyone Become a Genius Through Dedication?
I think that it's an interesting question. The most interesting thing is a definition of the word 'genius'. Who is a 'genius'? Is it a man who can remember a lot of information or who can do a complicated computation in his head or who has graduated from the university in 18 or who was able to...- Cyril141795
