In the early days of electricity, they didn't have wall plugs
Hello scientists, engineers, etc. I have not had any questions for you recently, so have not participated here. I was scanning some material and ran across these 2 ads. I had posted them at another forum, and I thought you may be interested in them as well. History is fascinating stuff! Some...- DDTJRAC

An old-time smithy
Hello scientists, etc. Here is an old-time smithy. I thought it may be of interest to you. Looks like he specialized in horseshoes. These types of images (RPPC) are hard to find. Yes, lots of blacksmith cards, but not with piles of horseshoes...unless you want to pay a lot for them. Here is...- DDTJRAC

Getting started in photography
You've never had it easier with digital...no darkroom or film. You can experiment like crazy, for free so to speak. I don't do much photography anymore, not like I used to. I was a photographer from 1969 to just a few years ago when covid hit. Health issues messed things up. I just work with...- DDTJRAC

Do you think this is an early theft prevention device?
Hello scientists, engineers, physicists and deep thinkers! I developed a technique to deal with moldy books / paper. I run the Peoples' Archive and acquire a good deal of moldy things. Some of it is so bad I don't even want to handle it to scan it. Yet some of it is still important material and...- DDTJRAC

Traffic jam on the Ohio River! (1904)
I saw some humongous coal barges in a photo. But will have to find it. If you have seen a coal barge, then multiple it by 40 or 50 strapped together. Crazy what they used to do.- DDTJRAC

History History is fascinating stuff!
Forgot all about 'Death Valley Days' series. I may have watched some as a kid but can't remember any of them. Ordered season 1 from the library. They have seasons 1-4 and season 13. Odd they don't have more of them. They usually have most or all of a run on DVD for popular TV series.- DDTJRAC

Anyone sick and tired of all the fancy techy stuffs?
Yes...kind of. I will never by a nanny state car that has remote shutoff or subscription heated seats. Yes, to the old school machines that seemed to lasted forever and could be repaired. Although I just bought a thermal scope and it is V2 and better than V1. So, just depends.- DDTJRAC

Hoarding Due to Labor Strikes
That is good to know. You can stock enough of an item to last a predetermined time if you have worries or expect shortages. I get 6 or 7 days from large roll.- DDTJRAC

History When streets were lit by gas lights
Yes, that is true. I never thought about the bugs. I was talking to a small-scale farmer. He said pawpaw fruit blooms smell terrible, like rotted meat. He told me flies pollinate them. Maybe if bees disappear, fruits will have to develop some stink to attract the flies. How long do such...- DDTJRAC
