What is 6000 gf.cm (torque) in terms of KG?
Hi nvn, The plate is completely flat, made of 4 mm thick steel (like the circular base you see supporting outdoor tables. So its quite thick and sturdy. And the load / mass on it will be completely balanced. When you mean "the mass you could place on this turntable could be rather large"...- designchick

What is 6000 gf.cm (torque) in terms of KG?
How weird - i got an email saying that 'nvm' posted a reply, but then it isn't here... If it helps: the shaft diameter is 6mm.- designchick

What is 6000 gf.cm (torque) in terms of KG?
Hi Brewnog, The motor is connected directly to the plate that turns, but is not bearing the load from on top. The motor shaft is attached to the middle of the plate. The plate itself is 30 cm in diameter, and weighs about 2 KG on its own. I can't seem to find out any information about...- designchick

What is 6000 gf.cm (torque) in terms of KG?
Hi guys, I bought a high-torque DC motor, that says at the back: 6,000 (gf.cm). I am intending to use this motor to power a plinth on a turntable. So the motor will be upright, with its shaft pointing up. My question is - What is the maximum weight i can put on this turntable, where the...- designchick

What bore diameter will fit a 5.4mm motor shaft?
Just checking: Are you suggesting that i get a gear with a bore diameter SMALLER than my 5.4mm, and then use a number 3 drill to ream out the extra bit in the inside? Thanks turbo and bob.- designchick

What bore diameter will fit a 5.4mm motor shaft?
Hi gurus, I was hoping you guys can help me with a little something: I have just purchased a 12V DC motor with a shaft diameter of 5.4mm (Oddly enough, the description on the ebay page says 5.5mm, but the technical drawing attached, says that its 5.4mm). In any case - i am looking for...- designchick

Can i adjust a 12V DC motor's RPM with a Dimmer?
Thanks again guys. And thanks for the link to the gearhead motor negitron - that really helps a lot. I've come across this PWM (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B001T7H0VU/?tag=pfamazon01-20). Would this work with the motor you suggested? (Perhaps another link to one online?) If not, i was just...- designchick

Can i adjust a 12V DC motor's RPM with a Dimmer?
Thanks again guys. Ok. So a rheostat seems out of the question, because i don't want to be losing any torque or voltage in the process. It seems like this h-bridge thing is exactly what I am looking for: So it allows me to adjust the voltage (adjust the RPM) as well as let me reverse the...- designchick

Can i adjust a 12V DC motor's RPM with a Dimmer?
Hi vk6kro, So is a pulse-width controller the same thing as a rheostat? Would i use it along with an SPDT switch? Would a pulse-width modulator allow me to change the direction of the motor's spin, or just adjust its RPM? Thank you- designchick

Can i adjust a 12V DC motor's RPM with a Dimmer?
Hi Negitron, Ok. So i need a SPDT 'plus' a rheostat to accomplish what i want to do... You mention that the SPDT contacts need to be able to handle the motor's current under full load... (is this the voltage? as in the SPDT has to handle 12V)? would you be able to perhaps recommend an...- designchick

Can i adjust a 12V DC motor's RPM with a Dimmer?
Thanks negitron. ill read up on that. Does that mean that my original circuit is ok (with just the motor, dimmer and battery pack) if i didnt want the motor to spin the other way but say still wanted to asjust the RPM? (or are you saying that adjusting the motor with the dimmer is not...- designchick

Can i adjust a 12V DC motor's RPM with a Dimmer?
Dear electronic gurus, (2 part question) I want to check that: If i got a 12V motor (such as http://scientificsonline.com/product.asp_Q_pn_E_3041860" ) would i be able to adjust its RPM if i got a: 12V dimmer switch box...- designchick

Q: Torque-speed? Motors and rotating plinths - Please help
Hi Bob, Thanks for that. I found 2 other motors that (i believe) seem more appropriate: The one is: 12V, 1 RPM, 65 Stall-torque (in-oz) The other is: 12V, 2 RPM, 31 Stall-torque If i wanted to have a bit more control in the RPM, should i be getting the second one that is 2RPM and...- designchick

Q: Torque-speed? Motors and rotating plinths - Please help
Dear engineering gurus, I was wondering if some of you might be able to help me out with my project (2 part question): I'm basically trying to make a rotating plinth (like those used in jewelry displays - except i need it to bear a weight of 1kg. (Most ready-made plinths won't take...- designchick
