Schools Question about university applications (averages)
I go to the UofA, and I've done the open house events for students. As far as I'm told, an 85% is a guaranteed acceptance, without any quota. And they may even round. I would call and ask the department if I were you. You could also apply to UofC, as they have a very good program too.- Dethrocutionx

Engineering Question about independent loop in a circuit
I just had a question pertaining a circuit that consists of 3 loops in the attached picture: The textbook states that the loop inside with the 50[V] source is independent of the rest of the circuit, but I have a hard time rationalizing it. The only reason I feel it is the case is because the...- Dethrocutionx

Question about Thevenin Equivalent Vth
Oh, okay that makes sense. One last diagram I want to ask about is this: https://www.dropbox.com/s/ctix99089gdmzqm/20121207_171919.jpg?m I somewhat understand how we can get Vth to be 6V using the left side of the circuit. Why can't we use the 2mA and the 2kΩ resistor to determine the same...- Dethrocutionx

Question about Thevenin Equivalent Vth
Thanks! Appreciate it. I have another question related to the determination of Vth. I have an example I am doing where the A and B terminals are in the middle. What does one do to determine this Vth then? Because when the terminals are on the left or the right, it makes sense how we are taking a...- Dethrocutionx

Question about Thevenin Equivalent Vth
Hi guys, I have a question that is nagging me quite a lot. Let us say that we have a circuit who has two independent sources (any combination of voltage and current sources). In the determination of Vth, can we choose whether or not to use superposition to find this Vth? Because my...- Dethrocutionx

Engineering Do Electrical Engineers have to be good programmers?
Actually, in first year, all the engineers were required to take the "Programming for Engineers" course. In the winter term, I'll be taking a "Programming for Electrical Engineers" course, and it's course description is as follows: "Architecture and basic components of computing systems...- Dethrocutionx

Engineering Do Electrical Engineers have to be good programmers?
Thanks for the responses everybody! I appreciate it. What I mean is, will my lack of MATLAB prowess hinder my chances of doing well in EE courses that require a decent amount of programming (two courses next semester)?- Dethrocutionx

Engineering Do Electrical Engineers have to be good programmers?
Hi guys, I've finished my first year of general engineering, in which I learned how to use MATLAB. I wasn't very good at it and only received a B. This leads me to believe that I won't be able to program very well and thus, won't succeed at courses offered in Electrical Engineering. Is this...- Dethrocutionx
