Continuous random variable question
mean of X is defined as ∫ x * f (x) dx over the domain of definition of X ∫ x (x + 1) / 8 dx = ∫ (x^2 + x) / 8 dx = x^3 / 24 + x^2 / 16 + c Over the interval [-1, 3], we get: (3^3 - (-1)^3) / 24 + (3^2 - (-1)^2) / 16 = 7/6 + 1/2 = 5/3 Im I right?
