How do atheletes sustain high power output, physiologically?

I am ~180lbs and have been lifting weights for about 12 years straight. I have also been running 3-4 times per week for the last 8 ish years. I have recently gotten into cycling, and noticed at the gym on the Schwinn "spin" bike, I will have peaks of around 400-500 watts, but it's definitely...

Dangerous Voltage: Is 50 Volts Deadly? Can Outlets Be Used as Grounding?

Ok got it. Is there any way to figure out say, how many volts or amps something is using (like this computer)?

Dangerous Voltage: Is 50 Volts Deadly? Can Outlets Be Used as Grounding?

So basically the only way to get the ohms is to multiply the amperage by the voltage?

Dangerous Voltage: Is 50 Volts Deadly? Can Outlets Be Used as Grounding?

AHhhh. That makes sense :D The only part I guess I don't really understand well is the resistance. I think what kind of has me thrown of is the fact that I read this: I think of the resistance as the wire size so I don't really see a difference between high and low resistance.

    Understanding Grounded Electricity

From 2 pm to about 2 in the morning yesturday, all I was doing was reading electricity articles on HSW haha. It's so interesting and of course I read that article as well. But I was just thinking that it seems electricity needs to go in a "circuit" but when it goes to the "ground.".. Where's the...

    Understanding Grounded Electricity

"Grounded" Electricity Well I've checked a few sites for the answer but I still don't seem to understand the grounding as well as I'd like to. I understand that it literally means a wire that goes into the dirt. What I don't understand is where the electrons go after that. Or what they are...

Dangerous Voltage: Is 50 Volts Deadly? Can Outlets Be Used as Grounding?

Ahhhh. I think I understand it better now. It just seems that the word "Volts" is used to measure electricity more than amps or ohms even though they are equally important. For example when talking about batteries it's common to hear "X volt" rather than "X amps".

Dangerous Voltage: Is 50 Volts Deadly? Can Outlets Be Used as Grounding?

Ohhh. I guess those "High Voltage" signs are misleading than because that's not the real cause of death? They say that in the US each house gets 120 Volts of power. But is it possible to tell how big the current is?

Dangerous Voltage: Is 50 Volts Deadly? Can Outlets Be Used as Grounding?

According to http://www-training.llnl.gov/wbt/hc/HVResearch/Definition.html which states in the 4th paragraph that you can charge yourself with thousands of volts by rubbing on the carpet. If 50 is deadly, how come you don't die when you generate static electricity? Also, is it safe to use...
