When the world doesn't understand energy and power
Mainstays 512841 $10 from Walmart There is a long 10 or 12 gauge cord that runs to the shed. Inside I have a few lighter cords and power strips that it is running though. I haven't tried moving it around to see if the power strips are causing the issue. I'm not an electrician, but at this...- fpjeepy

When the world doesn't understand energy and power
Maybe you guys can help me figure out what I'm looking for... I have a worksite office that runs off an extension cord. The coffee maker pulls enough power when it turns on that it flickers the light. I am looking for an AC equivalent to a DC inductor. Basically I would like a device that when...- fpjeepy

Simplified Tapered Cantilever Beam Generalizations
Most of them work with little noticeable difference. Imperfections in the plywood seemed to be a bigger determining factor.- fpjeepy

Simplified Tapered Cantilever Beam Generalizations
I looked in Roark's Formulas and didn't find anything. Basically, I design parts that need to bend. Mostly plywood and plastic. Mostly cantilever beams. I like to taper the beams so that the stress along the beam is more uniform. The question I have is how much do I taper. With no taper, the...- fpjeepy

What forces cause a surfboard to turn?
I like it. So if the center of the lift force is forward of the center of mass the "outwardly" component will create a torque rotating it. The harder the rail/chine the move lift at the edge of the board... the further the board can lean... the larger the turning torque.- fpjeepy

What forces cause a surfboard to turn?
Summary: Leaning on an edge of a surfboard will cause it to "carve" in that direction. But why? I was a little bummed there is not a Marine Engineering section, but there is an Aeronautical Engineering section. :frown: The term carving describes turning on a surfboard. It is a roll + pitch or...- fpjeepy
