Calculating Heat Absorbed & Temperature Change of Rocks
Well okay, this is what I got when I tried to solve for delta-T (I tried twice and did something wrong, I can't remember how to isolate it because it is in the denominator...) the -x- represents that variable being cancelled. ΔT = \frac{Cs*m}{q} Which gave me: ΔT=(0.82...- FTCC.student

Calculating Heat Absorbed & Temperature Change of Rocks
Homework Statement Large beds of rock are used in some solar-heated homes to store heat. Assume that the specific heat of the rocks is 0.82 J/g-K. (a) Calculate the quantity of heat absorbed by 50.0 kg of rocks if their temperature increases by 12.0°C. (b) What temperature change would these...- FTCC.student

How can I balance an equation with odd numbers of certain elements?
It would be 3\frac{1}{2}, yes? So I should then multiply by a small integer to get rid of denom, multiply all by 2? Does that include the 3.5?- FTCC.student

Learn Inorganic Compound Nomenclature with IUPAC
Memorize the common polyatomic ions...including their charges...makes life much easier I've noticed. That way when you have something like MgSO4 you just already recognize the Magnesium and the sulfate to give you Magnesium Sulfate...and as for the roman numerals, I find using those for the...- FTCC.student

How can I balance an equation with odd numbers of certain elements?
I know this is elementary stuff, but I'm in Gen Chem 1 and this is the only thing I am having trouble with. I am fine balancing most equations, but when there are odd numbers of certain elements I get sort of confused. For example: C2H6 + O2 \rightarrow CO2 + H2O The Attempt at a...- FTCC.student

Having problems understanding units
Thank you guys so much, very in depth explanations. I do understand where the units in the answer come from, basically just get them algebraically along with the values. I do have another question regarding mg=GmM/R^2, though Keep in mind I am only in algebra based physics, and haven't...- FTCC.student

Having problems understanding units
Sad, right? Problems in Chapter 1! I can usually calculate the correct values, but understanding what the units attached means, I just don't understand the concept...I can't visualize it. For example, For example, in scientific notation the universal gravitation constant G is this according...- FTCC.student
