I am studying calculus, real analysis, and abstract algebra. Sometimes while solving problems in books such as Apostol's calculus I get stuck because I need to refresh my preliminaries. The preliminaries I am referring to include:
1)inequalities involved summation upto n terms...
You could also try out the Lebesgue's number lemma . But I think you will have to prove that lemma for sake of completion. Of course , proof is available online and using the Lemma almost solves the question. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lebesgue's_number_lemma
How many people over here feel that the authors of the show took inspiration from Kubrick's movie 2001: A Space Odyssey based on Arthur Clarke's Sci fi book ?
I wonder why they did not show the monolith in some episode. (or did they ?)
Cool , thanks for the find.
And some activity from NPTEL on the mathematical front after a long time.
A course on Real Analysis from the NPTEL Stable : - http://nptel.iitm.ac.in/courses/111106053/ .
Let's see how it goes.
There's one on the web by Francis Su of Harvey Mudd as we all know...
The NPTEL lectures are surely coming up but not at a rate one would have hoped for. I mean I had the idea that they would release all proposed lectures by 2012 end. But I guess I was wrong.
By the way are there any lectures out there on complex analysis ?
Thanks.
Does the expectation factor explain why certain piece of music has a tendency to 'grow' on one ?
Often one hears a piece of music and it doesn't quite impress one. But on repeated hearings one tends to enjoy it.
Hello,
The 2012 London Olympics concluded a day or two ago. We saw that a few records were broken in athletics. In particular, the 4x100m men's relay record.
Currently the WR are as follows :-
1) 100m Men's sprint - 9.58 s
2) 200m Men's sprint - 19.19s
3) 4x100m Men's relay - 36.84s...
:)
That one was my favorite episode.
Do you recall the first few minutes of this one .
Sheldon is not allowed to speak about Tapioca .

Classic.
I don't know if this has been brought up already in this thread.
But how many of you feel the latest season is not as great as the first 3 were.
This usually happens with most sitcoms, the punches are exhausted in the first 2-3 years. Later seasons run mostly on earlier popularity.
Its not as...
Ya. Nice Video. Plus the guy has got other videos in his playlist too. I'll have to hear it more than once.
