Why would we ever terraform if we can develop cyborgs?

I completely missed that... . Man, it's sometimes difficult to detect sarcasm in text but, in hindsight, that was pretty obvious

Why would we ever terraform if we can develop cyborgs?

A few flaws 1. If the idea was the hardest part and engineering the easiest part, does that mean that some ridiculous idea such as creating something which travels faster than the speed of light is engineerable once we think of this idea. 2. Technically, terraforming relates to modifying...

Inconsistent language of the percentage system

http://wiki.answers.com/Q/671.51_plus_5_percent_equals Had a look at one of them. This one is quite terrible. But then, this forum is for ppl who, at the very least, know what they are doing in the basics of notation (plus, minus, percentage), not putting anyone down, unlike wikianswers.

The square root yields only one value ?

I think we posted at the same time. Maybe I should use quotes more. I was referring to sank's latest post. Anyway, thanks for that info about LaTeX.

The square root yields only one value ?

Well, to be honest, that's what we have been saying all along. There are fundamental differences between these two functions y = x2 and y1/2 = x. and what you have stated in your last post about this is correct. PS To other ppl who have been using LaTeX, how do you use it on...

Why would we ever terraform if we can develop cyborgs?

Breathing aids seems like a short term solution. Terraforming, however, solves this problem permanently. Once when you terraform, any colony which you build on the terraformed planet becomes self-sustaining as you can establish photosynthetic plant life. The only problem is an ecosystem on...

Two current carrying wires (need clarification)

If you drew a diagram of the two wires (carrying current in the same direction) interacting together, you would find that both fields join up and interact in a way similar to the north and south pole of a magnet. The field lines from one wire is joined to the field line of another. If the...

You should first try to find the value of A based on the information and then find cos A/2. You only need to worry about the limits for sin A.

The square root yields only one value ?

Hmm... He said x2 = 4. Essentially, it is y = x2 where y = 4. If you graph y = x2, there are two places where y=4, as you said - 2 and -2. So, technically, he is incorrect there for that particular question. If, on the other hand, he said x = 41/2, then he may have a case there. Didn't read...

Inconsistent language of the percentage system

Agreed. My opinion on this is that 10% is equivalent the decimal 0.1 so essentially, you're just adding 50 + 0.1 = 50.1. If you don't state 10% of what, then it should be the safest option that 10% refers to 0.1. eg 50 + 10% * 50 = 55

Difference of Electron storage in metalloids and metals

Sorry for the long reply. Correct me if I'm wrong but, from what I understand, it seems like semi-metals have a bonding structure which is closer to non-metals than metals (ie, it is like a covalent bond) except that they have a special property where you can liberate enough electrons to carry...
