Is the Quadrupole Moment Non-Zero?
I have been throwing everything I can at this. I believe that both the monopole and dipole are zero, but I have no clue as to how to evaluate the quadrupole moment.- ispivack

Central Potential Repulsive Scattering
When the particle m1 is infinitely far away, neither particle will have a force acting on it. So, both equations hold for the frame of the third observor, no?- ispivack

Central Potential Repulsive Scattering
I have one problem with this question that I've been struggling with. Initially, the total energy should be given by E =m1* v0^2/2 (as U goes to zero, and m2 is at rest). However, if we write r = r1 - r2, we get E = mu*rdot^2/2 + U_eff(r), U_eff(r) also goes to 0, where mu is the reduced mass...- ispivack

Courses How difficult is complex variables?
The alternative would be to take another class as well. I have many broad interests and would like to take more culture/language classes before grad school. I was just trying to figure out if it would be reasonable to take another course based on my current load. I think I will enroll in it...- ispivack

Courses How difficult is complex variables?
Hello, I am a rising sophomore in Astronomy and Physics. I am taking complex variables next semester and was wondering the effort required to succeed in the class. There are some other classes I'd like to take, however I don't want to overload myself. I have taken up through multivariable calc...- ispivack
