Automotive Temperature and mass flow rate of ICE exhaust gas
Modern road car engines can manage around 30% thermal efficiency, meaning that 70% of the heat energy generated by the engine is lost to the atmosphere. This heat energy is dissipated through the exhaust AND cooling system. While i can't give you figures on mass flow rates, exhaust gas is...- J Mc

Automotive Use of nitrogen gas in modern shock absorbers
In short, it doesn't prevent cavitation(Essentially boiling the shock oil due to low pressure behind piston). If it could then my job would be a lot easier. If anything it HELPS to prevent cavitation, but if the piston is moving fast enough you will always encounter cavitation(Race cars can see...- J Mc

Calculation of torque of engine (mathematically)
Hi, There are a lot of unknowns and variables that will affect the engines torque, but unless the engine was tested on a dyno or used to propel a vehicle fitted with the appropriate sensors, then it will be practically impossible to accurately determine its torque using only RPM and cylinder...- J Mc

Job Skills What do I study to find cures for diseases?
I would think something in the medical field, say Immunology, would be slightly less math heavy than anything with engineering in the title. I struggle with math myself, but it is an extremely powerful tool. Best of luck with whichever path you choose. J Mc- J Mc

In a DC circuit, is "negative" synonymous with "neutral"?
Hi Dave, Thanks for taking the time to write back to me. It's always nice to hear that I'm right about something  I'll probably never manage to convince my friend that he has it wrong, you know how Aussie tradies can be  but that's OK, If he's the only one making that mistake then...- J Mc

In a DC circuit, is "negative" synonymous with "neutral"?
Hi, I'll start by offering some context to my question. I am a mechanic by trade, and have a bachelor of technology in motorsport engineering. I have a friend who is an electrician by trade, and he likes to work on his car in his spare time. In my line of work I only deal with 12V/24VDC...- J Mc
