Help getting over this long, hard night (what to do?)
Here is my summary of how my night went. From 3:10 to 4:30 am, I watched Monty Python's Flying Circus. Then from 4:31 to 4:40, I took a quick polka breather. I resumed watching the Flying Cicus, and continued to do so until about 5:30 am. The last time I glanced at the clock it was 5:55. After...- jollyunclejoe

Today I Learned
Fair enough once again, in that case, have a good sofa session. I shall return now to my howls of derisive laughter before the now almost inevitable sleep. Cheerio then- jollyunclejoe

It does rule, I couldn't agree more completely! I have in fact been watching episodes obediently, I'm just pausing the video whenever I receive reply notifications .- jollyunclejoe

Today I Learned
No, I'm from the States, and I'm afraid I do not work in medicine, pathology, or forensic anthropology, although all of the subjects I've just mentioned are interests of mine I suppose. Yes, the avatar is a bit misleading. It's actually a picture of Douglas Adams (I'm a huge admirer of his work...- jollyunclejoe

Help getting over this long, hard night (what to do?)
Thanks, Danger, I'll take your advice and watch some Monty Python. I'll also take your advice and avoid alcohol. It's a long dark way to the fridge anyways.- jollyunclejoe

Help getting over this long, hard night (what to do?)
Thanks for the reply, but I've mentioned already that I've been hanging around on this forum already. I've been writing posts and reading lots more for about the past three hours. Since this is an imaginative, intelligent, and fun bunch, I thought this might be an "opportunity". Perhaps not . . .- jollyunclejoe

Help getting over this long, hard night (what to do?)
So here's the deal. I've frightened myself rather badly looking at pictures of deceased sailors and now it looks like I'll be spending this night awake. I have to start working at around 9:00, so that leaves me roughly with 6 hours to kill. Please give me ideas of what to do, but it cannot...- jollyunclejoe

If Aliens Existed, Would Inter-Galactic Travel be Possible?
These would have to be some sophisticated aliens. If so, it would almost certainly take a very long time. Perhaps millennia between galaxies. I wouldn't think such a long wait would be worth for an alien just to see Earth.- jollyunclejoe

Today I Learned
Today I learned all about Sir Franklin's Arctic expedition, and now I can't close my eyes without seeing three frozen corpses swaying in front of my bed. Guess it's another all-nighter for me tonight. Sleep for knowledge = worthy trade off?- jollyunclejoe

Today I Learned
Today I learned in this thread that a single kiss may transfer 80 million microbobes. Somewhere else today I learned that over a hundred people were killed in the Thammasat University Massacre.- jollyunclejoe

News Iraqi unrest, Syrian unrest, and ISIS/ISIL/Daesh
Al-Qaeda. I wasn't trying to suggest that, I'm sorry, I was unclear. A better way to put it would have been to say that we invaded Iraq because the Bush administration merely believed that Saddam was harboring and supporting terrorists, and had been doing so since the early nineties. I still...- jollyunclejoe

News Iraqi unrest, Syrian unrest, and ISIS/ISIL/Daesh
i I believe that by that point the civil war wasn't a full blown civil war any more. I would call it an insurgency if it makes any difference at all. Czcibor, as I recall, Saddam wasn't too friendly with America or the West in general, although he did bring stability to his country (albeit...- jollyunclejoe
