What substance(not really a lube) can reduce friction signifigantly?

PTFE or PFA (Perfluoroalkoxy) would be my suggestion. You could make a sole out of solid Teflon and this would be pretty robust.

Graduate Pressure relief from 15,000 psi to 0

If the valve in question is a pressure relief valve they usually require a presssure differential to operate so the pressure will not reach 0kPa without a vent to atmosphere on the outlet.

High School Inclined plane: heavy and light ball

The effect of a force is an acceleration. The acceleration (or deceleration in this case) will be greater for the lighter mass. I do not believe the air drag is dependent on density. Surface area & texture, volume, velocity perhaps but not density & therefore not mass. If you throw a...

High School Inclined plane: heavy and light ball

There is nothing contradictory there. The air resistance is not dependent on mass so each ball given they are the same size and have the same velocity will experience the same resistive force. If this is equal for both balls the effect will be greater for the lighter ball as this is dependent on...

High School Inclined plane: heavy and light ball

Friction is only required to set the ball into rotation. Once the ball reaches the end of the incline its tendency will be to retain its rotational and translational motions. The only force opposing this tendency is air resistance as all other forces are normal to the motion. If the balls are of...

High School Inclined plane: heavy and light ball

Without friction / air resistance they would both just keep going... If friction is equal for both balls then the heavier one will go further.

Undergrad Space Elevators -> US Transportation Infrastructure

You could also argue the reduction of the countrys reliance on oil for fuel (as rechargable electric cars can be charged from renewable sources) and the reduction in the cost of lives due to traffic accidents cannot be valued in dollars... Sustainability is paramount :)

Undergrad Does increasing the temperature of an object increase it's mass?

Does this also mean that a steel spring would be measured heavier in a compressed state than in a non-compressed state as it has stored energy?

Undergrad How and why are shock waves produced in breaking objects?

How were you cutting the pen? A shorter segment is more rigid and the natural frequency of oscillation would be higher. But the increased level of pain may be an accumulative effect.

Graduate Is increase in entropy synonymous with the flow of time?

Hypothetically speaking...if doubling the "rate" of entropy caused time to speed up, then as we measure rates with respect to time, there would be no change would there? I am not sure I can back this statement up with sound arguments, but I think time is a quantity/entity that does not...

Help Model Michelson-Morley Experiment | Learn Aether Theory

If you are traveling in a car with two guns. You fire one forwards and one sideways. The bullet you fired forward will be going faster than the other because the bullet will have the added velocity of the car. But the car has no sideways component of velocity so the bullet you fired sideways...

Light decomposing when moving your eyes

I would like to repeat this experiment for myself. What were you drinking? What is "pure white light"?

How Do You Calculate HP, Torque, and RPM for a Turbine?

Since you already have the total torque, you need the moment of inertia of the turbine and I think other resistance to rotation will be small in comparison so could be ignored for an estimate. Edit :whoops missed that last post. You will still need the moment of inertia.

Undergrad How will be the frictional force on a bullet while spinning and non-spinning.

The primary reason for rifling the barrel and imparting spin to the projectile is to even out the drag in the perpendicular plane and keep the bullet on target rather than reducing the drag.

Which speed is greater? Different question, Is this possible?

You are correct but you initially said they begin with the same speed. That isn't the same thing. Speed is the magnitude of velocity regardless of the direction. If they begin with the same speed then ball 1 has a greater vertical velocity because it has zero horizontal velocity. So it will...
