Intro Physics Thorough introductory calculus and physics books
Anybody have some thorough books on first year physics and calculus courses? My courses use mostly books written by the profs at my university, and I don't feel like they have the breadth and depth that other books might have. Any suggestions?- Kenny Bala

Optimization Problem: Minimizing rectangle dimensions
Hi guys, I'm a high school senior currently in calculus and vectors. We're in our application unit right now, and I'm having quite a bit of trouble with problems that give the desired volume/area, and then ask you for the minimum dimensions required for said volume. One notable problem that I am...- Kenny Bala

Schools Going to college before uni for engineering?
Yeah, I should have specified that. I'm in Canada and here our colleges are somewhat the equivalent of community colleges in the US. I was just curious, as I'd been hearing from people who graduated that going to college first allows you to gain more practical and hands on knowledge about...- Kenny Bala

Schools Going to college before uni for engineering?
I do realize that, however to my knowledge there are significant differences in the education you receive at least in engineering. I'm just curious if college before university would be of any help for engineering- Kenny Bala

Schools Going to college before uni for engineering?
Hey guys, I'm a senior in high school and I recently finished all my university applications, all of which revolve around computer/electrical engineering and computer science. While I plan on going to university and then possibly grad school, I keep hearing however that it would be a great...- Kenny Bala

How to calculate external force acting on a pendulum
I am doing a physics project whose purpose involves describing the physics behind a toy. The toy I have selected is a "decision maker" which is composed of a pendulum which has a magnetically charged ball on it that swings side to side, while having a force exerted on it by magnets which change...- Kenny Bala

How is sinusoidal current generated?
I'm delving into AC as well as attempting to understand the various wave forms used in electrical engineering, and I am curious how engineers are able to generate current which alternates in a sinusoidal manner. What specific phenomena allows us to achieve this? Is it a special circuit, or does...- Kenny Bala

Which language to use for evolution simulation
Thank you for the advice jedishrfu and .Scott. Java was a language both me any my friend were leaning towards since we have experience with the language, and for now it seems like that is the one we will use, although we are still in the elementary planning stages.- Kenny Bala

Which language to use for evolution simulation
Hi guys, my friend and i are planning on creating an evolution simulation. We are however, trying to balance between the amount of time to write code and the amount of time our simulation will take to run, and how fast it runs(the simulation is in real time). So, what programming language do you...- Kenny Bala

Should I take this co-op oppurtunity?
Choppy, thank you for the questions, I think they directed me in the right path. I will talk to my co-op guy to drop it. Coming back from 3 consecutive concussions, my sleep is required to be at least 8 hours for me to function normally, and I like having time to myself because I use it to learn...- Kenny Bala

Should I take this co-op oppurtunity?
That was why I took on this whole oppurtunity, but with it I will literally not be able to do anything but study. Would it still be worth it at the age that I am at(16)?- Kenny Bala

Does time perception change in near death patients?
I read that brain activity spikes in near death brains of mice, so it seems plausible that these brain surges would also explain near death experiences, and the flashing. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-23672150...- Kenny Bala

Should I take this co-op oppurtunity?
Hey guys, I am a student in high school in the 11th grade. I registered for co-op next semester, and I got this reverse-engineering position, where i would look at things like patent infringement, using techniques like reverse engineering. The thing is, I have extremely hard courses as well next...- Kenny Bala

Reevaluating Darwin: What Aspects of His Theory Have Been Proven Wrong?
I don't think much has been proven wrong, but we have gained insight on how evolutionary mechanisms happen, through things like genetics and the likes. Concepts like mutations, and meiosis, combining of alleles are things he never knew about, and he could as a result not exactly explain the...- Kenny Bala
