Graduate Understanding the Curl Theorem: Examples and Explanation
I see. The vector is not R3 because its not defined at the origin because of the j and k components. Correct?- kliang1234

Graduate Understanding the Curl Theorem: Examples and Explanation
Hi, this is a very simple question about the curl theorem. It says in my book: " If F is a vector field defined on all R3 whose component functions have continuous partial derivatives and curl F = 0 , then F is a conservative vector field" I might sound stupid, but what exactly does...- kliang1234

How Does Inserting a Dielectric Affect Electric Field in a Charged Capacitor?
Information given: A parallel-plate capacitor has capacitance C = 12.5pF when the volume between the plates is filled with air. The plates are circular, with radius 3.00cm. The capacitor is connected to a battery and a charge of magnitude 25.0pC goes onto each plate. With the capacitor still...- kliang1234

Baseball and Average Force Question
are you sure? the ball is thrown towards the bat where it then gets popped up vertically. ^Vf | | | | <---------V0 the triangle above would be for Vf+Vo By reversing the Vo and putting its tail to Vf's head, i get Vf-V0 and that's below----------->V0 ^ | | | |Vf- kliang1234

Baseball and Average Force Question
I tried that on my first attempt. Since its Vf-V0, i put Vf ^ --------> V0 | | | I get the angle between V0 and the hypotenuse to be 39° But since its asking for the angle relative to the intial motion.. would it actually be -39° ? or 180+39 = 219° ? Thanks- kliang1234

Baseball and Average Force Question
Question: A 0.165kg baseball pitched horizontally at 34.5 m/s strikes a bat and is popped straight up to a height of 40.0m. a) If the contact time between bat and ball is 1.0ms, calculate the magnitude of the average force between the ball and bat during contact. I got this part right. I...- kliang1234

What Is the Compression of the Spring When the Box Reaches Maximum Speed?
ok, so i tried .5kx^2 = fdsin30 that wasn't it either. I'm down to my last try on masteringphysics - kliang1234

What Is the Compression of the Spring When the Box Reaches Maximum Speed?
Acceleration would be gsin30 if I'm not mistaken. There would be a time where acceleration will be equal to zero and that is when the retarding force of the spring pushes back onto the box until the box stops and the spring expands and the box slides back up the incline. Both my tries seem...- kliang1234

What Is the Compression of the Spring When the Box Reaches Maximum Speed?
if you meant spring, yes it still accelerates. Thats why i thought to set kx = Fdsin30 but that was incorrect- kliang1234

What Is the Compression of the Spring When the Box Reaches Maximum Speed?
A 17.0 kg box slides 4.0 m down the frictionless ramp shown in the figure, then collides with a spring whose spring constant is 190 N/m. Picture: http://session.masteringphysics.com/problemAsset/1000077659/2/knight_Figure_10_69.jpg We also know: a) What is the maximum compression of...- kliang1234
