Is the earth only 6,000 years old?
My proof: God is a rational creator who would not try to deceive us Satan had no part in the creation of the Earth (or universe) Therefore, God must have used evolution to go from Big Bang to Homo Sapiens Unfortunately, as many have said, religious zealots like Dr. Dino won't listen to...- Kopachris

High School Please answer My Many New Bee questions on a Black hole.
Yeah, we're still waiting to see if the LHC manages to "unravel" the extra dimensions (if they exist). I personally hope they don't find the unraveling of extra dimensions. Right now, string theory is purely mathematical, with no physical evidence of it being true. I also hope they don't find...- Kopachris

High School Please answer My Many New Bee questions on a Black hole.
You're thinking of parallel universes, not extra dimensions. Extra dimensions (in addition to our four (3 spatial + 1 temporal) that we live in) are predicted by string theory. Up to 26 total (in the bosonic case). The most commonly given explanation is that these extra dimensions are curled...- Kopachris

Undergrad Best way to easily make positive ions?
Modey3: http://www.electronickits.com/kit/complete/misc/ck1103.htm" the kit I was talking about. What I need is just positively ionized hydrogen -- protons. Preferably ionized in a vacuum to prevent accidentally igniting the hydrogen (although I'd only be using a tiny amount, about 50mL, and...- Kopachris

Graduate Can we power a light bulb with positrons?
That would be anti-argon (and a little anti-nitrogen). We'd also need anti-silicon and anti-oxygen. I suppose we could suspend it magnetically so we wouldn't need anti-air. -

Undergrad Best way to easily make positive ions?
How do you make positive ions? I found a kit device that is made of a bunch of capacitors and diodes that's supposed to make negative ions (it says to reverse the diodes to make positive ions) how does this work? Wikipedia and HowStuffWorks weren't much help. Wikipedia explained what diodes...- Kopachris

Graduate What Do Dimensions 5-14 in String Theory Really Mean?
I'm too lazy to read this entire thread before putting my two cents in, so sorry if this has been explained already. String theory deals with gravity on a quantum level. I don't know the gory details of how the quantum mechanics is handled, but the gravity part is explained by having all...- Kopachris

Graduate Speeds greater than the speed of light
I don't know if this has already been said or not: Nothing with mass can travel faster than the speed of light. Einstein postulated that as the velocity of an object increases, so does its mass. As said object approaches the speed of light, the mass approaches infinity. At the speed of...- Kopachris

Graduate Speed of light same as light speed?
EDIT: Please ignore this post. I hadn't had my coffee yet and said some stupid things. c is defined as the speed (it's not usually a vector, but sometimes is) of light in a vacuum, 299,792,458 m/s. Special Relativity says that all velocities are relative to each other except the velocity of...- Kopachris
