I will now let this topic go in that you seem not to get my point. -

Undergrad Floating a Battleship in a Bathtub
ah well...I am not interested in answers. My interest lies in how to get them. Just saying F=MA or in this case B= W displaced is very boring (to me) and provides zero insight. :zzz:It is just a workbook exercise. As in: "I have a formula. That's all I need." It leaves out the beauty... -

Undergrad Floating a Battleship in a Bathtub
The link actually has some physics...Shouldn't The battleship in the tub solution calculate the approx pressure gradient due to gravity and show how the differential pressure on the top versus the bottom of the ship will float it. Relevant parameters include ship mass, density of fluid, fluid... -

Graduate Interference pattern from a streetlight ?
I am sure that is right....thank I am sure that is right....thanks I am not sure I posted this in the correct forum...should have been under quantum. -

Graduate Interference pattern from a streetlight ?
I don't think so Isn't a diffraction pattern the result of constructive and destructive interference? -

Graduate Interference pattern from a streetlight ?
photons and phase Perhaps coherence of photons is not the correct term. The following implies no knowledge of QED, only a reading of Feynmann's "QED" which was intended for the layman. I thought the angle of the spinning vectors used by Feynman in "QED" implies an initial phase relationship... -

Graduate Interference pattern from a streetlight ?
If I use a narrow slit (e.g. two fingers) to view a distant streetlight, I can see an interference pattern parallel to the slit. Doesn't this mean that the photons passing through the slit must be phase coherent? If I am correct about coherence, then how does it occur? The photons leaving the...
