The guys I work with call me an educated grease monkey (or a grease gorilla, I guess they figure gorillas were smarter than monkeys). I work mainly on industrial and agricultural equipment, such as asphalt plants, mills, harvesting equipment, storage silos, grain bins, packing plants etc. I work out of an automotive shop I help my father run. "It's good to be reminded where you come from", and he offers free tool storage :).
My knowledge has mainly been learned firsthand. I'm extremely knowledgeable in the area's that I work, but fairly ignorant in the areas that apply to some of the inner workings of my field. I have decided to learn some more about this, I don't expect to learn everything about all of it, but I figured a better understanding of some basic, and maybe intermediate physics would be the next logical step. I bought a few books, downloaded a few lesson plans and seminars, and signed up here.
