MHB How many marbles are in a jar?
How many marbles are in a jar? There are about 167 marbles in a jar. Volume of sphere (marbles) = (4/3)πr^3 r = (4/3)π(0.25)^3 volume of sphere/marble = 0.0654 inches Volume of cylinder (glass) = v=πr^2h v=π(1.625)^2*2.80 volume of cylinder/glass = 23.23 inches It is a given that the glass...- Max CR

Undergrad Homeowners Want to Limit EMF Exposure by AC Units
Thanks everyone for the input. I think we may make some sort of attempt at the Faraday cage. I think it may have to do with the "power line" belief but she is already scanning her house with an EMF meter so I don't think there is any getting her to change her mind. Ill remind them about the TV...- Max CR

Undergrad Homeowners Want to Limit EMF Exposure by AC Units
Thanks for the input. I just remembered that the whole planet consists of a magnetic field to prevent solar radiation from the sun (hence the north and South Pole). She takes a meter around to detect what she says "EMF." perhaps she is actually thinking of radiation. If it is the radiation...- Max CR

Undergrad Homeowners Want to Limit EMF Exposure by AC Units
Hi, I work in the construction industry. I have a homeowner that would like to protect herself from electromagentic field (EMF) exposure. (She fears cancer from EMF's.) The airconditioning unit in their AC room produces a large electromagnetic field. She wants to prevent this field from...- Max CR

Showing Plane's Relation to Earth w/ Two Vectors
Homework Statement How can i show the relationship of a plane relative to the Earth using two given vectors? The nose of an ultralight plane is pointed south, and its airspeed indicator shows 35 m/s. The plane is in a 10 m/s wind blowing toward the southwet relative to the earth. a) In a...- Max CR

High School Object's Speed: Does Force Double Speed?
Well, I just launched a rocket. Each rocket engine put out six pounds of force. There were four rocket engines. The rocket weighed 5 pounds. If four lit off at the same time, then there should have been 24 pounds of upward force. All four went off at the same time. The only problem is that the... -

High School Object's Speed: Does Force Double Speed?
I originally thought that it would move at 6 miles per hour, but through trial and error I can see that it will move only 3 miles per hour. I just wanted to get a confirmation. -

High School Object's Speed: Does Force Double Speed?
An object is pushed with one pound of force by person A. This causes the object to move 3 miles per hour. Person B then pushes the object with one pound of force also. Will the object move at 6 miles per hour? -
