Why does a platform with two perpendicular gyroscopes remain rigid?

Hi Baluncore and thank you for your response. I just want to know that if two gyroscopes with perpendicular axes are mounted on a platform that is in turn mounted on gimbals, will the platform maintain its orientation in space such that the gimbals rotate? If it does, why does that happen?

Why does a platform with two perpendicular gyroscopes remain rigid?

So I've been trying to understand a concept in gyroscopes and I hope the guys and girls here can help me with it. I first read it here, the part about mounting 2 gyroscopes with their axes at right angles to each other. It said that the platform will remain totally rigid. I tried to...

Undergrad Can two unequal masses at different radii rotate indefinitely about an axis?

You talked about a system that is statically balanced, right? Now what if, the effect of gravity is considered? So what I want is, I want gravity to be rotating the masses such that the mass at the top always tends to move down, driving the lower mass up and the loop continues... forever. Is...

Undergrad Can two unequal masses at different radii rotate indefinitely about an axis?

Hi, newbie here. I'm a UG in mechanical engineering and I've a basic understanding of (but a very keen interest in) physics. Before I get started, I just want to say that this is not my homework. So there's this problem that's been in my head for a while. I don't know enough physics to solve...
