Undergrad Ideal Gas Law - Real Life Question?
Ok, so in a closed system (lets assume some sort of syringe device that is 100% closed - obviously theoretical only), if the volume of air is halved, but the pressure is doubled (so no change on T) is what youre getting at? Hence why I wouldn't see any temperature changes? 0.5 x V, but 2 x P =...- Monday

Undergrad Ideal Gas Law - Real Life Question?
Hi Guys and Gals, As I was pumping up a flat bike tyre, a weird thought occurred to me about the application of the ideal gas law. Once the tyre essentially finds its physical dimension limitations (i.e. is shaped like a bike tyre and no longer changing shapes) and starts putting in reasonable...- Monday

Low-pressure turbine system heat xchanger?
Hi Guys, A question that I've been mulling in my mind over the last few days, is it is practically possible to make a low pressure 'turbine' system at atmospheric pressures? I was looking at a low-pressure stirling engine, and wondering if the same thermodynamic principles would equally be...- Monday

Undergrad Reciprocating Engines and Use of Vaccum
Hi all, I have a random query that I suspect you guys will able to help me with on reciprocating engines (ala like steam engines rather than petrol motors). In the classic steam engines, obviously boiling water in a Pressure vessel and fed through a reciprocating engine is able to produce...- Monday
