Instantaneous Speed in a time interval
Well that's one thing I managed to confuse myself with. I wasn't sure whether to interpret "picking up the same amount of speed" as increasing each distance using the same speed or equating the the distance traveled by compounding the speed from each time interval. But if it is adding the...- Monkey618

Instantaneous Speed in a time interval
I suppose I did answer more in terms of distance. So if the ball picks up the same amount of speed in each successive time interval, then that means it would simply have a constant velocity in some direction, right? Which, therefore, means that it neither speeds up nor slows down, meaning...- Monkey618

Instantaneous Speed in a time interval
Homework Statement In reference to Galileo's Inclined Plane experiment. 2) What does it mean to say “The ball picked up the same amount of speed in each successive time interval.” Use symbols to write this sentence mathematically. 5) For the ball falling vertically, if we believe that...- Monkey618

Finding Propagation of Uncertainty?
I've been meaning to get back here to say Thank You! Multiplying by the density was exactly what I needed to do for WebAssign (the online grading system) to accept the answer.- Monkey618

Finding Propagation of Uncertainty?
You measure the mass of the cylinder to be m = 584.9 +- 0.5 grams, and you measure the length of the cylinder to be L = 18.195 +- 0.003 cm. Just like in the lab you performed, you now measure the diameter in eight different places and obtain the following results. Diameter (cm) 2.125 2.090...- Monkey618

Relationships between variables, for use of optimization
Ah. I am aware of it, yes. I did not notice notice it before taking the derivative. It would have made my life easier. With the way that I've already done it, am I correct? EDIT: Okay, I reworked the problem and got this. I’m pretty sure that this is correct. V = πr²h S = 2 πr² + 2 πrh h =...- Monkey618

Relationships between variables, for use of optimization
Homework Statement Build a steel drum (right circular cylinder) of fixed volume V. The cost of the material is the same for the top and sides (same gage and same cost) and disregard waste. What is the relationship between the height of the radius that will minimize the surface area of the...- Monkey618
