I'm not sure how relevant my situation is to yours, but I kinda understand what you're going through.
I was at a community college for a few years and this is my first term as a transfer to the big state school for chemical engineering. I don't dislike my classes, and I like the technical...
My organic chemistry class would also be considered my favorite class in college so far. I loved every day of it. My professor was thankfully extremely gifted in teaching the material -- his class mainly relied on understanding the material rather than memorizing it. Of course there was still...
Organic chemistry has been my most difficult class so far. There was so much information to learn in such a short time-frame. I remember flipping through the text before the first term started and thinking to myself, "there's absolutely no way I can do this." Then I busted my butt, studied long...
Thank you very much, Simon. When I tried transposing, I put the apostrophe in the wrong place (inside the bracket) and didn't catch it. Still very new to this.
I read the book chapter and do as many problems as I have time to do before the lecture for that section. I circle any problems that I couldn't solve or had major difficulty solving and come back to them after attending the lecture. If I still can't solve them, I'll visit the professor during...
I do what Null and tinylights do. I do my assignments a few days early, essentially pretending they are due 2-7 days before the actual due date, and it helps tremendously in easing off the stress and letting me focus on my work. I also usually try to work on assignments for no more than one or...
That is, word for word, exactly what my high school geometry teacher demonstrated for us. I was quite blessed to have him as my teacher for four years.
Like others, my first experience with proof-based mathematics was a geometry course during my freshman year of high school. I wasn't very good at it then, because I didn't put a lot of effort into learning the material needed to formulate a proof.
My 83+ screen started going bad, and I have been using that calculator since '97. I replaced it with the nspire CX CAS and haven't looked back. It's easy enough to use once you get used to it. A lot of functions are in menus, but the menus are very easy to navigate, allowing use of the touchpad...
From what I have learned (I'm still in the class):
Cis/Trans are used when your lowest priority group on both carbons is hydrogen.
Z means your high priority groups are on the same side (both top or both bottom, if double bond is horizontal...not sure how else to say this). E means the high...
Fredelement,
I am also in your age group, at 28, and I am in my second year at my local community college. I'm majoring in chemical engineering and looking to transfer to my state school next Fall (I'm actually dual-enrolled at the CC and satellite state school as of now, so I just need to do a...
Exactly the same problem at my CC, which is why I am transferring early, before I get my AS degree. It's a shame, and it's been a bit stressful at times hoping my class doesn't get dropped, but I still don't regret going to my CC -- it has been a great experience.
Ohhhhhh yes, forgot about this. While I'm proud of the GPA I have now, it won't factor into the graduating GPA I'll receive on my final transcript. It'll show up as a transfer GPA, but that's about it. It's unfortunate, but what can I do? I'll just have to do my best and take it as it comes...
