Will anyone alive today see a permanent colony on the Moon or Mars?
The moon was the first other planet we reached. Mars will be the second. The second is nothing and will barely even be remembered compared to the first.- mr3000

Undergrad The natural numbers and logical consequences of them
The definition of infinity is that it is how many natural numbers there are. You can take those infinite natural numbers and slice them into an infinite number of infinite sets, each of which can then be sliced the same way ad infinitum. What does this mean/imply?- mr3000

History Apollo 11 or Sputnik 1 - which was more significant?
I’m honestly not sure which one to pick, Sputnik will always be the beginning, yet Apollo 11 was clearly more impressive. I wasn’t old enough to witness either of them (born in 1995.) perhaps someone old enough to remember them both can give the best answer- mr3000

Alien life, probabilities, and interstellar propagation of human life
It seems to me that if life started on earth exactly once in 4.5 billion years, then it is an extremely improbable event that is a very rare if not unique occurrence in the universe. I’m aware that the number of planets in the universe, including interstellar and intergalactic planets, is an...- mr3000
