Undergrad What is the best frame of reference?
So I was studying some physics, and I keep encountering how many things depend on the frame of reference. For example, kinetic energy and momentum. My question is if there is an absolute frame of reference? Can we define one? I remember reading somewhere that the absolute reference...- nicknaq

Soccer 'Heading': Calculating Impulse of a Ball
Homework Statement Recent studies have raised concern about `heading' in youth soccer (i.e., hitting the ball with the head). A soccer player `heads' a size 4 ball, deflecting it by 38.0 deg, but keeping its speed of 19.60 m/s constant. A size 4 ball has a mass of approximately 0.302 kg. What...- nicknaq

T1°T2 is a counterclockwise rotation about the origin by an angle of____rad
Let T1 be the reflection about the line 2x−3y=0 and T2 be the reflection about the line 2x+5y=0 in the euclidean plane. - first I was asked to find the T1°T2 matrix. I did that. - now I need to find the counterclockwise rotation about the origin of T1°T2 I should use...- nicknaq

Determine if the Given Vectors Span R4
I have the answer, but it makes no sense to me. Can someone explain it? QUESTION: Determine if the vector { [1 3 -1 0]^T, [-2 1 0 0]^T, [0 2 1 -1]^T, [3 6 -3 -2]^T } spans R^4 ANSWER: The vectors span R^4. One way to see this is to observe that the matrix A with these vectors as...- nicknaq

How Do Reflections and Subspaces Challenge Linear Algebra Understanding?
Why? And how? Do I simply multiply (1,0) by the matrix given (i.e. cosΘ, sinΘ, sinΘ, -cosΘ)? If so, where does that get me? I'll have a matrix with Θ terms in it. I'll work on this after I get (a) The three rules are: 1. It must go through the orgin 2. closed under additon 3. closed under...- nicknaq

Find the distance between the two lines (linear algebra)
So if I want to stay away from calc, is the best way to prove distance=0 by simply showing the projection is zero?- nicknaq

Find the distance between the two lines (linear algebra)
Would it entail that the lines are orthogonal? For example, the projection of x=0 on y=0 would be zero since y=0 has no component in the direction of x=0. If that makes sense?- nicknaq
