Engineering Decline in engineering/science jobs market? China outcompeting us?
I think it depends on where you live, and if you've had family that's experienced it. Of course I do agree that if anything we dug our own hole so to speak.- Panwasbipolar

Should biology be left to the biologists?
I'm not qualified but am I wrong in that what this guy is getting at is why mountain chains resemble brain surface? Beyond just the fractals. I'm guessing that sounded nuts.- Panwasbipolar

News Is Entertainment the New Motivation for Watching the News?
As far as PBS goes I know it takes sponsors to run things, but considering the audience that tends to watch, I was a little perplexed when they started running Monsanto commercials.- Panwasbipolar

News Is Entertainment the New Motivation for Watching the News?
I get mad when reporters decide to throw in their opinion on what they're reporting. I watch local, pbs and a few minutes of msnbc if they're not running some crappy rerun.- Panwasbipolar

What type of government/system would maximize the pace of scientific research?
Corporate plutocracy resembling Fascism at a constant state of war. (If you don't work you're viewed unpatriotic) That's just my dystopian view though.- Panwasbipolar

Medical Can parasitic worms be used as a treatment for diseases like ulcerative colitis?
Was watching National geographic channel the other night and heard about it. I have a stray with f.i.v. that's attached to my hip and was all worried. Maybe I need to fetch an Idol of Bast for safe measure.- Panwasbipolar

What Are These Unidentified Rocks and Minerals I Found?
Hey everyone, thank you for the responses. Evo, when I first looked at that it reminded me of cave formations, and wondered what the chances were that a petrified tree would have calcium deposits formed around it, but then I remembered you said it was like marble. Did you collect your...- Panwasbipolar

What Are These Unidentified Rocks and Minerals I Found?
Sure I don't mind, I'd like to see them. If I could have any fossil it'd be a crinoid, things are strange as hell.- Panwasbipolar

What Are These Unidentified Rocks and Minerals I Found?
Hi guys, I've a habit of looking for things on the ground but don't know what these are. The brown lump is slightly magnetic and has an oily sheen when it's wet. I'm guessing it's slag but am not sure, was found in farm country near Niagara falls. The pink piece is the oddity. I found it in the...- Panwasbipolar

News NK Attack on SK: International Community Response Needed
Don't know much about the area but maybe North Korea figures that with the shape of the economy, the U.S. can't really afford to intervene. They seem to not have much to lose at this point (that's just what I've seen via news though).- Panwasbipolar

Graduate Extinction events and an astrolabe
I'm guessing this requires some difficult and monotonous math so I figure if it has been done, it required expensive computing equipment. But, does anyone know of any info or have participated in a computer astrolabe program that has ran the numbers backwards as to the position of planets and...- Panwasbipolar
