But not an outrunner three phase brushless motor 25hp is only a few pounds runs at 70 v with an ecm some are being used in ultra lights now. But do coust a bit 4 to 5 hundred range.
Some of the new type outrunner electric motors are up in the 80 HP range and are very light weight. May have to be a little larger then a hover bord. The trade off is power required to run them Li batt. Are needed.

Thank you for the info. Should have realized that the whole craft is like a ck valve holding air presure in and released at a controlled rate by the skert. Trying to think of ways to use less hp. Closer tolerance in fan and ducting may help.
Thinking of a ducted fan with a controlled vent at the base of duct to direct some air flow for lift. Also add a check valve to keep air flowing in one direction. With a 15 hp eng. the deck dem. Are 5 feet by 12 feet I think it would only take 1.5 hp for a .5 in lift at a gross wt. of 350 lbs...
Use a raft as a hovercraft by using a pillow bladder type skirt. Installing a hard deck in raft and securing the skirt in center forming a pillow around outer edge of raft. Then placing 2 in. Holes in upper inside for air flow and lift? Can it work?
