Can you please explain what permanent dipoles are?

this website has been good so far. I hail from Earth and come in peace hoping to share and receive knowledge from y’all.

I cannot understand what are pd-pd and id-id bonds along with how to identify them. I think this is related to something about polar molecules but I’m just really lost right now. I also need help on how to remember the names of the different shapes that the compounds form; e.g - Trigonal Planer.
