I know how it works, before I even applied I spoke to my would be mentor and he went over the whole process with me. In order for the individual scientist to actually see your name to chose you, you have to make it through a preliminary step in which they go over all of your personal stuff such...
Oh it absolutely is not. If it was, I never would have been selected! But, it definitely gives him/her a much better shot. I'd say letters of rec/essays are probably more important
Hi! I did a SULI position last summer with ORNL and last year I found out on 2/5/20. But I think it depends on the lab. Currently waiting eagerly for this summer! You're sure to get it with a 3.9ish. I had around a 3.4. I think the most important thing is the essay question answers and your...
Thank you very much for this feedback and great advice. I was under the impression that despite not listing MSE in category 1, I do already meet the requirements for category 2 under option 4 as I have taken chem 1 and 2, physics 1 and 2 and easily 32 credit hours in engineering courses.
So...
Hi!
I was wondering how my background of Material Science and Engineering would impact a potential career in patent law. There already is not too many of us, only about 40 people in my graduating class at a big state school, so I'm assuming there aren't many Patent Attorneys with a background...
Hi all,
I am currently a rising Junior in college on track for a BS in MSE and loving it so far. This summer I am doing a remote internship for a National Lab and ever since day one, I have loved it. I also have been doing undergrad research for the past year and find it incredibly interesting...
I never got a call from them, but I received an email basically saying I was accepted and describing the project I was accepted for. I have not been sent a notification about the official acceptance yet however
Just an update on my application, I received my acceptance for SULI at my first choice laboratory today. Thankfully they were enthusiastic about my application and did not just look at my gpa
Hi all! Previously I wrote about the SULI internship. I was wondering if anyone had any insight about the R&D internship at Patagonia. Currently filling out my application and I think my essays are pretty good, and pretty unique. Thanks again!
Thank you to everyone for the great feedback, almost ready to send in the application so we'll see how it goes. What would any of you recommend as the best site to use for finding internships and such? I have been using Indeed but I did not know if there is a better site.
Thank you, that is some really good advice! I have been putting a lot of time and effort into these essays. Hopefully some of my past experiences can set me apart from the rest.
Thanks!
Thank you for the feedback. I hope the internships I am applying for will take into account that I am just a sophomore with not too many grades under my belt so one or two b minuses and one or two a minuses could skew my CUM. After this coming semester it should be up to a 3.5ish
Hi! I am currently a sophomore in college majoring in Material Science and Engineering and searching hard for any internship advice or opportunities. Nice to meet everyone!
Hi! I'm currently a sophomore in college and applying to internships. One that sticks out to me is SULI. I'm a Material Science and Engineering major. Currently a 3.3 GPA but should go up after this semester is over. Also working in a research lab and I have leadership experience with an exec...
