High School Building a more powerful electromagnet
Ahh ok, so it's needs to be fairly small buty as long as it's not ridiculously heavy the weight doesn't really matter, under 100 pounds would be good. I'm useing a car battery to run it right now, but i can change that out for something else, but the power source needs to be portable and...- Rozy94

Um honestly as strong as I can get it, what kind of design changes are you talking about?- Rozy94

High School Building a more powerful electromagnet
Hey so I'm trying to build a few poweful electromagnets and I need some help because i don't really know much about the topic. What gives an electromagnet more power? Number of wire turns? Multiple layers of wire turns? Is it amps or volts that gives them their drive? Also what's the best gauge...- Rozy94

High School Electromagnetic poles- repelling
@ chrisbaird So would the bolts being permanatly magnetized mess this up? Even if it was just slightly? And if so do you know where I could find a regular bolt or how to demagnetize this one, if that's even possible>- Rozy94

High School Electromagnetic poles- repelling
Ok so here are the pictures of the two, it doesn't attract very strongly in the second picture where the two bolt heads are touching so I might just have a battery problem, but if someone sees another problem from the picture please point it out! And the wire is enameled with the ends...- Rozy94

High School Electromagnetic poles- repelling
Hi I'm working on a science experiment and I need two electromagnets to push away from each other, but the two small electromagnets I've made (using two bolts wrapped in magnet wire and a D battery) just attract each other no matter which ends I put together. Am I doing something wrong? Do I...- Rozy94
