Admissions Applying undergraduate physics programs
If you are going to be applying to U of Maryland, I would recommend that you apply to University of Maryland, Baltimore County(UMBC) as well. They are much cheaper than U of Maryland and they are one of the up-and-coming Universities in the nation. Also, they are #2 in the nation for NASA funding...- se7en

Why is my internet so slow? Is it just me or are others experiencing this too?
I have comcast internet which has been incredibly slow as well. At first I thought it was due to the cold whether because the internet in my house was only slow during the night when the temperature is at its lowest. I don't know if that sounds stupid or not, keep in mind I am not a computer...- se7en

Can Analytical Skills Be Improved Through Specific Activities?
Is it possible to develop your analytical skills? I have read before that you can increase your analytical ability by solving puzzles(soduku) but I do not know if there is any research that proves that one can actually increase their analytical reasoning. I was actually thinking about buying...- se7en

Attempts to balance social life/ physics
hm, I was in the same position as the OP last semester(I am a second semester freshman). I found that what I would do on the weekends would carry over and affect how much time I put into studying. For example, I would go to a party an meet knew people and those people were not very serious about...- se7en

Need help on how to study with concerntration? =)
Absolutely! Any kind of cardio exercises will increase the circulation to the brain which will increase your brains' oxygen consumption...That is mainly the gist of it, but a quick google search will turn up more information. You don't have to workout everyday either, maybe 3 days a week, 45...- se7en

Understanding Concepts as opposed to Memorizing concepts.
not exactly. The questions are usually ones that I(we as a class) have not seen before. But some seem better at being able to apply the concepts and relate concepts in order to answer the question. I know this isn't a problem that the whole class is having, but these types of questions separate...- se7en

It would be the latter. Using old concepts to answer unfamiliar questions.- se7en

Understanding Concepts as opposed to Memorizing concepts.
Well I took my first physics midterm yesterday and it was very intense. Most of the equations that were needed were not given, which means that we had to derive them from the ones that were given. But that's not the part that posed the greatest challenge. A large part of the exam was...- se7en
