Raft acceleration homework problem
A raft is constructed of wood having a density of 600.0 kg/m3. The area of its top surface is 5.7 m2, and its volume is 0.50 m3. When the raft is placed in fresh water having a density of 1.0x10^3 kg/m3, how much of it is below water level? What is the upward acceleration of a helium filled...- silently_loud

Solving Physics Questions: Acceleration & Friction Coefficient
mgcos always equals the normal force. Unless its an object on the ground, which in that case w=n. Alright. f=un. mgcosx25=n f=uxmgcos25 mgxsin25=uxmgcos25 gxsin25=uxgcos25 g=9.8 solve for u- silently_loud

Solving Physics Questions: Acceleration & Friction Coefficient
1.use F=ma for the first one. So mgxsinx27=ma, then gxsin27=a 2. Use f=un, so mgcos25=Normal. Maybe use F-f=ma to find f then use f=un to find coefficient of friction- silently_loud

Solving a Box Sliding Down a 20 Degree Sloped Plane: Finding Acceleration
Use f=ma So mgxsin 20-mgcos20xu=ma gxsin20-gcos20u=a but since its frictionless I would just use gxsin20=a or F=ma, no friction. Try that- silently_loud

How Many Oscillations Occur Before Amplitude Decays to e^-1?
Thanks. Really interesting stuff, really like the website. What text would you recommend for a beginner, I am taking physics now but its easy. Lately we have studied frictional forces such as F=un and F=ma, but this is over my head. Go1 what degree do you have?- silently_loud

High School Welcome to the Forum! Learn Math & Physics Here
Hi everyone I am new here, hope I can learn on here. I really would like to learn more physics and math, currently taking Calculus. Any other sources you guys and girls would recommend that I look at so that I can learn more. Thanks. Hope I can contribute to this forum with my limited...- silently_loud
