Wish to understand the Venturi Effect WRT cooling

Something like flash evaporation makes sense to me, because there is space in the drum for the liquid to expand into. I don't know if this is what exists in the A/C system though?

Wish to understand the Venturi Effect WRT cooling

I'm familiar w/ the compressor (pump) and the condenser (radiator) components of the system. The Venturi effect exists in all of these systems, sitting between the condenser low-side and the in-cabin evaporator either in the form of a) a thermal expansion valve (dynamic flow control + Venturi)...

Wish to understand the Venturi Effect WRT cooling

But it expands within the constriction where the static pressure is lower, right? If so, how can it expand when the amount of space is fixed? Also, is there an intuitive way to understand why only the static pressure affects the phase and temperature?

Wish to understand the Venturi Effect WRT cooling

Not a physics student -- but was thinking about how the A/C system works in a vehicle. First surprise was that pressure drops when a tube narrows. Seemed counter-intuitive as I was picturing taking a balloon and squeezing it -- would the pressure in the middle be lower than the ends? Then again...

Are Electromagnetic Fields from Laptops Causing Discomfort?

It occurs anytime I put the laptop on top of my body, meaning within less than a foot. It is produced by any laptop machine, I have tried several. I could possibly be insane, yes. And no my friend isn't playing jokes. Makes sense, but heat pushed onto my lap doesn't ring true when the laptop...

Are Electromagnetic Fields from Laptops Causing Discomfort?

Thanks and no, no medical conditions I'm a healthy kid :) This is true and I've considered this, but keep in mind it is never directly on top of my clothes. I've either used laptop accessories that elevate it 5-6 inches above my body, or a product called "Laplogic W800" (can't post URL due...

Are Electromagnetic Fields from Laptops Causing Discomfort?

My background is in CS, so I apologize if I sound a bit stupid wrt the topic at hand. My friend and I have been having a heated debate about the causes of "discomfort" that I've been experiencing with my Macbook Pro. After having it on my lap for several minutes, even on top of surfaces that...
