My avatar is a photo I've taken during spring 2014 of a long-eared owl (Asio otus), actually the male of the pair that has been nesting in our garden for at least 7 years now.
Edit April 2015: glad to announce the pair of owls is back for another breeding season.
Edit 2016: we were not that fortunate in 2016 anymore. The pair did not return... No more owls :(
Edit 2017: hey, how about that - the nest is inhabited again, the owls (same? new pair?) are busy raising another generation.
