Undergrad Normalized Angular Rotation/Position Equations?
I am trying to model a localized force of a known magnitude acting on a rotating cylinder. The force is in a constant location, but the cylinder is rotating. The main part I was struggling with is how to mathematically represent the angular position/magnitude of this force on the cylinder as a...- Stargazer43

Undergrad Normalized Angular Rotation/Position Equations?
I'm trying to write a program to solve a series of dynamic equations, and ran into one stumbling block that seems like it should be easy to resolve. Basically, I'm trying to solve for the angular position of an object rotating around a circle, and to specify certain conditions on the circle...- Stargazer43

Graduate Preventing Oscillations w/ Coarse Calculation Increments?
I'm using Aspen Custom Modeler w/ their 1st order BFD method, but I have tried most of their other built-in methods with the same result. I get the same issue when I try to numerically integrate in Excel also, unless I make my increment size extremely small.- Stargazer43

Graduate Preventing Oscillations w/ Coarse Calculation Increments?
I'm trying to solve the following set of equations across several discrete increments. These aren't the exact equations I'm using, but they're a simplified version with the same general structure...it's basically a set of equations describing a transfer rate along a fixed length, where "Z" is...- Stargazer43

Studying ChE with Felder book (self-study, online, programming)
Lucky you . I had a similar class in school that used that book, and honestly it was the hardest class I had in all my years of school (we had a really challenging teacher though). Honestly the concepts are almost painfully simple, but the actual problems can be extremely complex...- Stargazer43

Graduate Why don't we see a lot of matter around black holes? And can we observe it?
Hello! I just want to start off by saying that I am no physicist or astronomer, so my apologies if my questions are really basic lol (although I am an engineer so I do have some technical background). I am very interested in it though, and I had some questions that I was hoping someone could...- Stargazer43
