Schools How to Pursue Physics After College: Advice Needed
I am pursuing Geology (which feels like a social science by comparison)- which I do enjoy, but not more as an interesting side hobby, not a career or future I've come to realize. By courses do you mean specifically related to my major or in general? I feel fine with algebra and trig, although...- Starlit_day

Schools How to Pursue Physics After College: Advice Needed
Hello everyone, Long long ago, I thought of being a physics major. When I came into into college, I had no experience with physics, problem sets, mathematics higher than trigonometry(very little trig), or much science(my school didn't really offer good science classes). I discovered physics...- Starlit_day

Vector Valued Function and values of t parallel to the xy-plane
Homework Statement So, the problem is this: Find all values of t such that r'(t) is parallel to the xy-plane. And my equation is: r(t)=(Squareroot(t+1) , cos(t), t4-8t2) Homework Equations Well, I will definitely have to know how to take the dirivative of the given vector valued...- Starlit_day

What is the best time to take Linear Algebra?
Just wondering when people thought the best time to take linear algebra is. My college says after you have taken Multivariable Calc., but is it necessary to wait that long for a subject that seems to be pretty algebra based (i.e. doesn't need higher level calc. to do)?- Starlit_day

Classical Mechanics and E&M introductory books
Hi, I looking for books that have practice problems (with explanations would be nice) on general introductory level Calc. based Classical Mechanics. And for Electromagnetism I'm looking for an introductory book that has practice problems. I haven't taken Multivariable Calc. yet (I'll be...- Starlit_day

Terrible Freshman year and uncertainty
Hehe, I'm now envisioning myself at a grindstone with my physics problem set. No, admittedly I didn't 60 hours on physics or all of my classes combined. It definitely was a shock to realize "oh gee, they want me to study?" As silly as it sounds. Yeah, I had a 3.9 out of 4.0 when I graduated high...- Starlit_day

Wow, well that's interesting to hear. So, why did you continue with mathematics- you just liked it? I'll check out the "who wants to be a mathematician" thread. It's an impressive rise. Thanks for the post. : )- Starlit_day

Terrible Freshman year and uncertainty
because things like math and physics, if you haven't practiced basic stuff, i could come hard and you might not have time to physically catch up) Could you clarify that bit some more- your English was a bit off and I want to make sure I got what you were trying to say. Are you essentially...- Starlit_day

Terrible Freshman year and uncertainty
Hi, (this is my first post! : D ) I'm a freshman in college. I came in wanting to major in physics and English. I soon tossed english aside and immersed myself in the sciences(during like the first month). I took Physics 1(general overview course touched upon all topics of physics from...- Starlit_day
