The question does go on to add a 1k\Omega load, but asks to first find the voltage across the 2 teminals. I think suggesting counting nodes has helped. I'm trying to find the equivalent resistance for this circuit IIRC, it's a resistor ladder. I think I've seen this solved by working backwards, but I can't for the life of me remember how to do it now.
