    Question about Specific Gravity.

I know that if the specific gravity is less than 1, it will float and if it is greater than 1 it will sink. Now here's the question, if the specific gravity is equal to 1, what will happen? Please I need your explanations. Thank you so much!

Understanding Buoyancy: Calculating Pressure and Buoyant Force in Fluids

A tank contains a pool of mercury 0.3 m deep, covered with a layer of water that is 1.2 m deep. The density of water is 1.0 x 10^3 kg/m3 and that of mercury is 13.6 x 10^3 kg/m3. Find the pressure exerted by the double layer of liquids at the bottom of the tank. Ignore the pressure of the...

Confused with this negative average velocity

Is this Right? The starting position starts in (North) but it travels downward, that's why it is negative, so for the initial position of the car I need to compute the distance traveled in 55 minutes and then add it to the 28.5KM? If I only base my answer on the Y axis, does my negative...

Confused with this negative average velocity

I think it means that it have a negative velocity, and it opposes the direction at the origin, but I am still confused, I do not know where to start. If you can Provide me the answer I can figure it out how to solve it. Hahays, please help me.

Confused with this negative average velocity

EDIT ADDED: I already got it! Thank you for your ideas! :D 1. Homework Statement If you drive an average velocity of -72.8 Km/h for 55 minutes to a position that is 28.5 KM north of Jollitown, in what position did you start your drive?I'm confused with this negative average velocity, please...

How Do I Solve These Equilibrium Equations with T₂ and T₃?

I tried to do that but my problem is with the denominator, remember my numerator has this 100N. How will I be able to isolate my 100N? that is really my problem, even if I changed it to its numerical value and then simplify, there is still a denominator and the numerator which inclues the 100N...

How Do I Solve These Equilibrium Equations with T₂ and T₃?

    there's always a denominator that's why I cannot immediately transpose, this is the equation again: [(T₃Cos60°+100N)/Cos30°] x Sin30° + T₃Sin60°=9810N

How Do I Solve These Equilibrium Equations with T₂ and T₃?

I'm still confused :( I really have a problem in Transposing the 100N to the right side. I can't just transpose it because it's in the parenthesis:(

How Do I Solve These Equilibrium Equations with T₂ and T₃?

[T₃Cos60°+100N)/Cos30° x Sin30°] + T₃Sin60°=9810N My problem is I cannot just transpose the 100N to the right side so That I could easily solve the equation, and if I multiply it with the Sin30° I won't be able to Isolate it completely because it will have a Symbol in Newtons.
