Engineering Is There a True Shortage of Engineers or a Skills Gap?

But the point of the discussion was that there aren't enough people with the right qualifications to fill all these positions that need them. Which was my argument as to why there seems to be less qualified applicants than there was in the past. There isn't someone just waiting to take the job...

Engineering Is There a True Shortage of Engineers or a Skills Gap?

Very true that if you think that the company has an obligation to hire you then you are going to be SOL. But, it's also true I don't have to work for that company. Also very true that you are selling your work as a product. But, companies also have to sell to the employees through enrichment...

Engineering Is There a True Shortage of Engineers or a Skills Gap?

Not completely true. The sword cuts both ways for companies creating interest for the future. Its not all about the companies as you as you can see since they are the ones complaining here. It's on them too.

Engineering Is There a True Shortage of Engineers or a Skills Gap?

I feel like there is a lack of opportunities for the young scientist and engineers to gain these specific type of skills during high school and college. There is a lack of apprentice type positions and companies willing to really work with students.

What are the Real Numbers c and d for Inverting Complex Numbers?

    Homework Statement Suppose a and b are real numbers, not both 0. Find real numbers c and d, such that \frac{1}{a + bi} = c + di Homework Equations I said that: 1 = (c + di) (a + bi) 1 = (ac - bd) + (bc + ad)i so if b = 0 then \frac{1}{a} = c + di The rationale...

Mental Road Blocks: Understanding Physics Faster

Yes I understand I am not the smartest or dumbest person in the world. Also some of the people with the highest Iq's in the world haven't done a whole lot with themselves either. I guess I am just curious about people who can look at complex things an figure them out very quickly. I very much...

Mental Road Blocks: Understanding Physics Faster

I was just wondering what people thought the difference was in people who can seem to be able to understand physics faster? For example like Edward Witten, he took a lot of time off from physics to pursue other things such as political journalism. Then decided to go back to math and physics. If...

    A Few Questions for Twofish-Quant.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I was wondering Two-Fish Quant if there are any good texts you would recommend on reading to get a better idea of the financial world? By this I mean teaching you the different types of basic technicals you might look at. Also the basic strategies of dealing...

Engineering  Systems Engineering | What Is It & What Do They Do?

Yes, I plan on actually getting a electrical engineering masters with the systems engineering track. One dilemma D H that I have is figuring out exactly how to get the experience I want. I will be taking electrical engineering classes which kind of run the gambit. Though I think I will try to...

Engineering  Systems Engineering | What Is It & What Do They Do?

Hi, I have been recently researching systems engineering as a possible graduate degree. I am currently a physics major. I was wondering if anybody here works as or with any system engineers? I have read some articles about the discipline and it seems pretty general. I was wondering if the...

What Does Stationarity Mean in the Context of the Euler-Lagrange Equations?

Is it just saying that the integral is a constant?

What Does Stationarity Mean in the Context of the Euler-Lagrange Equations?

What does it mean when it says "the integral of the Lagrange equation is stationary for the path followed by the particle"?
