Undergrad Uncovering the Hidden Probabilities in Georgia's Keno Lottery Game | Explained
I forgot to mention. After the lotto selects one number they won't select it again for that draw.- TheEtherWind

Undergrad Uncovering the Hidden Probabilities in Georgia's Keno Lottery Game | Explained
At least I'm educating myself before playing the lotto, right? There's a game in Georgia called "Keno!" and they do an awfully good job at hiding probabilities from you. They'll tell the overall chance to win, but not the probabilities for the specific higher winnings possible. Basically it...- TheEtherWind

High School Why is E=mc² Essential in Understanding Energy and Mass?
Common misconception: Everything does not necessarily travel at the speed of light. Everything's proper velocity's magnitude is c (under only the influence of gravity? I think). E=mc^2 wasn't a guess. It was derived by a thought experiment of Einstein's and described in his paper "Does the...- TheEtherWind

Graduate Objects accellerating due to each other's gravity
How about a1(t)=GM/[x1(t)-x2(t)]^2 a2(t)=-GM/[x1(t)-x2(t)]^2 These are the differential equation explaining two objects falling toward each other. In a straight path of course. Edit: And of course assuming Newtonian gravity suffices as an approximation.- TheEtherWind

Undergrad Does the law of universal gravity exist?
The gravitational influence from one would reach the other. Using Einstein's velocity addition formula. You'd see that in one objects reference frame the other would be traveling away at less than the speed of light.- TheEtherWind

Problem with solving equation of motion
If you can solve for x in this type of equation in elementary functions, ln(f(x)) + g(x) = t let me know- TheEtherWind

Graduate Black hole information paradox
Does anyone know the equation that Hawking came up with? It related entropy to area of the event horizon, Plancks constant, the speed of light, and Newton's gravitational constant. I've seen it before, just can't remember it.- TheEtherWind

Problem with solving equation of motion
Actually the equation x''=-k/x^2 yields an x function that can't be written in terms of elementary functions.- TheEtherWind

L'Methyl Folate: Genes, Neurotransmitters & Effects
Thanks for the replies. And L-methylfolate is another name for levomefolic acid, which, if I'm not mistaken, is an active form of folic acid. In context to why I'm interested in the subject, my psychiatrist did a genetic test on me to find that whatever the two genes are, I have a heterozygous...- TheEtherWind

L'Methyl Folate: Genes, Neurotransmitters & Effects
Does anyone have any references for me with good information on the genes (don't even know their names) responsible for the synthesizing of L'methyl folate from folic acids. Also I'd like to learn about the effects of L'methyl folate on the production of dopamine, serotonin and norepinephrine. I...- TheEtherWind

Coriolis expression - Question about sign
The sign is solely due to the choice of coordinates. Here's a site that derives it as positive: http://www.nws.noaa.gov/om/wind/deriv.shtml- TheEtherWind

Massless beam held against a wall
It doesn't seem completely unsolveable. I've done similar problems. Let's see what equations we can set up... forces in y direction (equal to 0), forces in x direction (also 0), balancing of torques (also 0) and maybe some trig equations: addition of angles and the law of cosines *could*...- TheEtherWind

Undergrad Why is the speed of light equal to c?
Perhaps sunfire is referring to the 'norm of all velocities' as the magnitude of the four velocity.- TheEtherWind
