Dmitry67, just because your pet theory can't make sense of born rule it's a dead rule and doesn't matter?
Your religious...
Hamster, will get back to you later today
This is another objection to MWI from a correspondent:
You (like many other nonphysicists who talk about MWI) seem to think solely in terms of splitting worlds - which is the idea you would get if you thought QM was based on localized randomness. A random thing happens, the world splits, and...
Fredrik, isn't it funny how people just want to solve every problem with consciousness? :P
Dmitry67 (no offense) claims the Born Rule MWI problem can be solved simply by saying "A future theory of consciousness will explain why we percieve the born rule"... :P
I'll look into the Ithaca...
Thanks Fredrik.
Well any criticism towards Deutsch/Wallace/Saunders/Greaves approach to MWI will be the trouble what you are talkinga bout will run into, because it's essential the same.
You can read more about attempts to save MWI from this here...
Fredrik, ensemble interpretation is a good interpretation if one wants to remain agnostic and realist.
It does make sense, but it isn't the FINAL theory of everything, then again we won't know what that is until we have quantum gravity etc.
I find it weird you say "now that I know there is a...
Nice I will pass this paper around to some physicists I know who know relativity 1000 times more than me and get back to you.
What have your responses from other physicists been?
Also let me know your views on probability in the other thread
Sure it can't be "debunked" as ghosts can't be debunked, because you can always move the goal post "nono but the ghosts are invisible so by definition you can't prove them, but they DO exist".
It's that kind of pathetic logic.
Then again NO interpretation that fits the standarf formalism can...
Why is it that MWI's problem with special relativity is rarely discussed?
From: http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/qm-everett/
A final problem is that it is unclear how to formulate a splitting-worlds reading of Everett that is compatible with the constraints of special relativity. Suppose...
Any of the proponents actually read the papers or seen/heard the talks by people like David Albert, Adrian Kent, Huw Price, Tim Maudlin, Roderich Tumulka etc.?
These present pretty clearly the problems of MWI.
Even proponents of MWI have accepted that MWI is hanging by a very thin thread...
So Dmitry67, after several failed attempts by Wallace, Greaves, Deutsch and a few others, instead of thinking... gee maybe there is something wrong with this interpretation, you choose to "postpone" the problem to the future where it MAY somehow make sense in a theory of consciousness?
I am a...
Dmitry67, no.
Neither is a spherical Earth falsified just because our senses tells us that the Earth is flat.
Let's say you set up a experiment much like the Schroedingers Cat.
Except instead of having the cat die/live let's picture 2 light bulps.
1 Red and 1 Blue.
Probability for the red...
Dmitry67, I think everybody that has ever thought about MWI and Probability has thought of something similar.
However this doesn't let MWI off the hook, the emperical evidence still flies in the face of MWI.
Even if you say probabilities are a illusion, observation still shows Born Rule, in...
Demystifier, I actually read that whole thread before creating this topic.
Mainly because a lot of people seemed uncertain about their views, so I figured maybe they had made their minds up now.
