MHB Expressing sin/cos(2θ) in terms of x....
For the question, If x = 3cos(θ), 0<θ<π/2, express sin(2θ) in terms of x. I confirmed that the following is correct: sin(2θ)=(2x/9)√(9-x^2) But for this next one...the x+1 is throwing me through a loop or something. If x+1 = 3sin(θ), 0<θ<π/2, express cos(2θ) in terms of x. cos(2θ) = fail...- TrigEatsMe

MHB Adding Trigonometric Functions
I've muddled my way through the majority of my weekend assignment and I'm stuck on a problem where I need to add two formulas together. 1.) 20-10cos(x*pi/4) 2.) 30+20sin(x*pi/4) I end up with a sinusoidal function which I can then graph and determine the max, min, etc. We recently went over...- TrigEatsMe

MHB Finding expressions for the five other trigonometric functions....
Thanks for all your help, folks -- I was able to get it submitted in time and assuming I got the answer correct I wills post what I submitted sometime tomorrow. If I didn't...well, I'll post it anyway so someone can correct me. ;)- TrigEatsMe

MHB Finding expressions for the five other trigonometric functions....
Thanks for such a quick response! I must be missing something, though. a^2 + b^2 = c^2 so I have x^2 + (b^2) = 16 The question asks for me to provide the other five trig functions in terms of x. I'm not seeing how to find out what that opposite side is -- what is its relationship to the...- TrigEatsMe

MHB Finding expressions for the five other trigonometric functions....
So here's the question: Suppose cos(θ) =x/4. Find expressions for the other five trigonometric functions in terms of x. In our practice problems we never had a variable x used and we were able to use the pythagorean theorem to determine the final side of the triangle and simply figure out the...- TrigEatsMe
