Motional emf, Gaussian flux, and lenz's law help
Here is the exact question with diagram: Two bars, each 30cm long, and each having a resistance of 2.00 ohms, are connected to a 1500V battery. The bars are attached to each other with 3 insulating springs each having a spring constant of 9N/m. The two bars are initially at reast, 4cm apart...- Turpulus

Need Help with double solenoid magnetic field question
Sorry for the confusion. THe question asks for the magnetic fields and the inductances of each solenoid. The solenoids are not connected at all. I understand about the magnetic fields adding up and I"m pretty sure you just treat the solenoids as independent entities for the inductance. So to...- Turpulus

Need Help with double solenoid magnetic field question
Ok great. I think I'm getting it. Would I subtract the inductances from one another instead of add them since the current is flowing in opposite directions? For the individual solenoids, I calculated an inductance of 2.398mH for the inner and 38.373 for the outer. So the outer inductance...- Turpulus

Rail gun and magnetic field question
Homework Statement The planet Zargon has a magnetic field that is oriented the same as Earth’s, but has a magnitude of 1.26 T! A Royal Zargon Warrior is exploring the Badlands at the Zargon equator when he senses that a vicious octomorph is on top of the rock pillar 9.50 m above him. He dare...- Turpulus

Need Help with double solenoid magnetic field question
So if the magnetic fields are independent, then that means the inductances are independent also correct? Won't the magnetic fields be cumulative in the inner solenoid?- Turpulus

Need Help with double solenoid magnetic field question
Ok that definitely helps. Is 30cm long enough though? Also, would the inductance be affected by the solenoids nested inside each other or is that an intrinsic property of each solenoid?- Turpulus

Need Help with double solenoid magnetic field question
Homework Statement There are two coaxial solenoids, each 30cm long. One is inside the other. Each carry a current of 3A, but in opposite directions. Inner solenoid has a radius of 3cm and the outer has a radius of 6cm. Inner has 15 turns/cm and the outer has 30 turns/cm. Find the...- Turpulus
