Can a TRIAC be used to reduce power consumtion for a charger?

TRIAC's will kick off as soon as the amperage drops below the threshold, so whenever the AC current reverses direction the TRIAC will brake the circuit. This happens about 60 times per second. So using a TRIAC for power conservation is not such a good idea

Can a TRIAC be used to reduce power consumtion for a charger?

It makes sense now Thanks a ton!

Can a TRIAC be used to reduce power consumtion for a charger?

If my understanding of triac's is correct then the triac will conduct current until the amperage flowing though it drops below the threshold. If that is true would adding a triac before the primary induction coil reduce power consumption? If it did, how would the you reestablish the...

Is it possible to break a circuit electronically?

Thanks for the input I'll look at this when I get off work

Is it possible to break a circuit electronically?

OK, I read a bit on Wikipedia Does anyone know if a demultiplexer can handle AC current?

Is it possible to break a circuit electronically?

Say I want to use a logic circuit to break the power supply of another electrical component.

Is it possible to break a circuit electronically?

I know you can use fueses, switches, and circuit breakers. But is it possible to use a logic circuit to break a circuit path?

Can a laptop charger be made vampire-proof with a timer and check circuit?

How about making a program that will check the battery voltage, and send a signal to the charger that will kill the power. Then reestablish the power when the computer would not trickle charge. If the program where to be stored in memory then it would use almost no energy (or any that would not...

Can a laptop charger be made vampire-proof with a timer and check circuit?

Hay, if you don't have time to search, here is the Vampire Labs homepage http://www.vampirelabs.com/" the Tree Hugger Forum is a good place to due research whenever you have time. Because the forum's filled with engineers, and professional researchers that follow the advancements in the field...

Can a laptop charger be made vampire-proof with a timer and check circuit?

How much power is used during a trickle charge? I have seen government funded adds urging people to unplug there chargers and other electronic devices. They claim that up to 80% of your electric bill could be because of charging devices alone. Of course I believe that number is a little bit...

Can a laptop charger be made vampire-proof with a timer and check circuit?

you using 230 volts, then you took the reading across the primary induction coil right. and yes, electricity is really cheap, however there is still a market for such a device. If nothing else it would appeal to "tree hugers," with the Energy Crisis and all.

Can a laptop charger be made vampire-proof with a timer and check circuit?

I am trying to build a vampire proof laptop charger. Vampire proof meaning that the charger will not consume power when it is not needed. The simplest way to do this is to unplug the charger. However the charger is often in hard to reach places, and unplugging it means climbing over...

Why are my EV batteries losing charge and amps?

We did not buy all of the batteries at once, we bought them over a period of a couple months. So is it possible that they are self discharging. I also noticed that after the EV runs down, we can pull into a parking lot, let it sit for a wile, then some of the juice comes back. So I am thinking...

Why are my EV batteries losing charge and amps?

this happened once before and was fixed by depleting the pack and recharging them. and the batteries are only a month or two old. We haven't been driving the car that much, so I don't think that they should already be dieing. But yes, I have considered that. Can you think of anything else...
