@PeterO thank you so much for your help! I got 6.98s for the mortar and 7.86s for the Dr. so it turns out, the mortar needs to be fired 0.7s after the Dr. leaves. I really hope this is correct :). Thank you!- vankyy

Thank you for your time guys. I have the sketch and I got the main idea, the thing that I cannot understand is, how do I figure out the time it takes for the mortar to hit the ground, if I do not know where it is going to land (how far above the ground)? If delta "y" was it would be no problem...- vankyy
