Graduate Is Gamma Ray Emission from a Black Hole Really Possible?
I just can't comprehend that gamma ray can come out of a black hole. Gamma rays are electromagnetism which contain photons, but photons have no mass. And we all know that a black hole swoops up light as well. And what recaton has the gamma ray on the mass around the black hole? I know It's true...- Vebjorn

High School Are there any equations I can solve on a 10-hour road trip?
[SIZE="4"]Hi! I am going on a 10 h road trip further north in Norway tomorrow, does anyone here have some fun equations i can solve? I mean, simple equations. I calculated the gravitational pull between the moon and the Earth (Quite a big number i must say) Those kind of things, the equation to...- Vebjorn

Undergrad Did the Big Bang create the most massive black hole in the universe?
Not that this helps you but: Something bothers me, string theory says that to branes, or 2 universes crashed into each other and created the big bang. Wouldn't the 2 branes get any scratches or rips? Because string theory says that these branes can be bent in different shapes, but not riped...- Vebjorn

Graduate Is the Universe's Electromagnetic Radiation Noise Uniformly Distributed?
I actually wonder the same thing! What i also don't understand is how the instruments in space can "convert" the electromagnetic vibrations from the object into sound ?- Vebjorn

Embarrassment Over Equations: Is It Justified?
He just said that i should be proud if i understood 40% of the equations at an age of 15. And i simply thanked him ^^, A rather long thank you x) I also mentioned that i only got a C in math this year.- Vebjorn

Embarrassment Over Equations: Is It Justified?
Godt å høre at det er noen andre nordmenn her også! :D Takk for oppmuntringen!

Embarrassment Over Equations: Is It Justified?
Hi! I'm new here by the way. But I've been pondering on one question for quite a few weeks. Is there any reason to feel embarrased if i don't understand 60% of the equations on this forum? I feel embarrased, but are there any reason to? I'm 15 so I am not really sure wether this is on PHD...- Vebjorn
