    Is there any way we can decrease the half life of isotopes in nuclear waste? such as mutate to some other radionuclides that have a relatively shorter half life than the original isotopes generated by depleted fuel? Thanks

    Hi All: My question is, why do some nuclear power plants have cooling towers and some don't? Why spend extra money on cooling towers if the feedwater can be cooled by the large body of water such as lake? Thanks!
