Engineering Student Seeks Advice on Water Ball Project

Hello, i am engineering student in my first semester and in my course we have to do a project to present, the professor picked the ideas for each group and my group got what he called a water ball. This water ball is basically supposed to be a ball that you can throw into your basement in case...

Solving a Homework Assignment: Airplane Flight in a Windy Day

so would the equation look something like this 580^2=(72+xsin(38))^2+(xcos(38))^2? if so how would one go abut solving it because i am having trouble figuring this out.

Solving a Homework Assignment: Airplane Flight in a Windy Day

the problem is tho that you only have the velocity of the plane no? because you do not have its direction that is what you are trying to get the direction it should go in because while its supposed to be at a 38 angle the south wind is changing its direction. so when i tried doing it that way i...

Solving a Homework Assignment: Airplane Flight in a Windy Day

Homework Statement an airplane, whose air speed is 580km/h, is supposed to fly in a straight path 38N of E. But a steady 72km/h wind is blowing from the north. In what direction should the plane head? i know the answer is 43.6 N of E but i am not completely sure how to get it Homework...

How Do You Calculate Tension and Friction in a Pulley System?

We were using stopwatches in this experiment so that is what is wrong with my data. Thank you for helping me figure this out.

How Do You Calculate Tension and Friction in a Pulley System?

it did go pretty fast when i did the experiment the problem was i wasn't the one measuring the time so i can't be completely sure if it was correct but yeah .41 seconds might have been too fast

How Do You Calculate Tension and Friction in a Pulley System?

yes that is the correct setup and yeah the masses and distance are definitely correct so it must be the time that is wrong, it surprises me that the time could make such a huge difference.

How Do You Calculate Tension and Friction in a Pulley System?

finding it using masses i would do (m2/(m1+m2))*g right? if so i got 2.85 m/s^2 and when i than plugged this acceleration into get a different tension and friction it did work, so should i just take it as me doing something wrong and getting a wrong result for the time which gave me a bad...

How Do You Calculate Tension and Friction in a Pulley System?

Homework Statement So i did a lab in school this week and i have to write a report but i am having some problems getting friction. so i have two masses a 1703 gram block and a hanger that pulls the block that has 700 grams on it. The block went a distance of 45cm in a time of .41 seconds. i...
